Cover is provided under 7 sections:

Section 1: Buildings, Greenhouse, Stock and Other Contents

You can cover purpose built greenhouse structures such as glasshouses and rigid or flexible film-covered structures which meet minimum design and construction standards Outdoor plant and propagation nurseries may also be covered, as well as other buildings directly associated with the business, such as packing sheds and cool rooms.

Both growing stock and finished plant products are insured on an agreed value, cost of production basis, including potted, bare rooted, in-ground and hydroponically grown plants. All other greenhouse or nursery raw materials may be covered.

Insured Events:

Events insured against include:

  • Storm (including hail),
  • Water damage,
  • Fire,
  • Smoke damage,
  • Lightning,
  • Explosion,
  • Malicious damage,
  • Impact, and
  • Earthquake.

 Cover is also available for plants lost due to herbicide spray drift. Other additional insured events are listed in the policy.

Section 2: Business Interruption

 Loss of gross profit due to a reduction in turnover and an increase in the cost of working as a result of an insured event damaging property insured under section 1.

Section 3: Machinery Breakdown

 Physical loss or damage to declared machinery items which require immediate repair, reinstatement or replacement.

Section 4: Electronic Equipment

 Physical loss or damage due to a defined event from section 1 to declared electronic items including temperature and environmental control systems, which require immediate repair, reinstatement or replacement.

Section 5: Burglary

 Physical loss or damage to the property covered under section 1 as a result of burglary.

Section 6: Money

 Loss of money belonging to the business whilst:

  • In transit,
  • In the custody of authorised employees, or
  • Located at the property covered under section 1.

Section 7: Glass

 We cover you for storm and accidental breakage to glass that has been declared on the Insurance Certificate. 

Proposal and Survey

A proposal and survey form must be completed before we can provide you with a quotation. An on-site survey by our greenhouse surveyor may also be required.

Efficient Claims Settlement

Agricola has received much praise from growers for our efficient claims handling.  Following a loss, you must complete a Loss Notification Form and submit it to Agricola within 48 hours of the loss.  An assessor will contact you, usually within 48 hours, to arrange an inspection of your plantation, once it is safe to do so.  Agricola’s loss assessors are professional and experienced in all aspects of silviculture.

The Insurer 

The insurer of this policy is Allianz New Zealand Limited, company No 445514. Allianz New Zealand has a Standard and Poor’s rating of “A”.
